About the Job

Are you a senior Data Management professional who enjoys driving the vision, strategy and innovate thinking as well as overseeing the execution and daily operations?  The DAMA-Toronto Chapter is eager to find a Vice President committing to a three year term.  The vice president would work very closely with the outgoing Past President and sitting President's to align education programs, industry practices and professional development chapter activities.  

Lead Data Management training and certification programs focused on helping members and businesses define and implement data and analytics solutions that include effective disciplines related to access, trust, controls through data governance, data architecture, master data management, data quality, data integration, data engineering, metadata, reference data, and associated best practices for modern data platforms (data warehouse, data lake, cloud data services, mesh, fabric).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Advise that legal requirements of the Board are being enforced
  • Advise the Board on the compliance to the Boards own Bylaws, and to rules of order, and responsibilities
  • Substitute for the president when they are not available.
  • Along with the president, sign all contracts which the Association enters into. Is one of the people authorized to co-sign cheques.
  • Along with the Director of Finance co-approve expenses submitted to the board
  • Using your knowledge and experience to advocate the importance of data management through demonstrated thought leadership
  • Using practical experience and knowledge to organizations cultivate their data and information management strategies.
  • Identifying technology trends and proposing research topics.
  • Development of research project outlines, scoping documents, and other related documentation as well as completing primary & secondary research.
  • Provide recommendations to board members that actively promote chapter benefits, growth and experience in data management related activities
  • Design and build of high-quality keynote/other presentations, and successful delivery of presentations as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, IT, or other related discipline
  • Practical experience (10-20 years) working in the majority of the following domains necessary: data governance, data management, information governance, information management
  • CDMP Certified preferred
  • Vocal advocate of Data Management book of knowledge
  • Presentation and facilitation experience demonstrated through prior client-facing workshops, training sessions, and consulting engagements.
  • History of strong relationship building and management skills. Experience gaining and maintaining trusted advisor status with management. Strong working relationships with C-suite considered beneficial.
  • Contributes to an environment in which all members feel a sense of belonging, valued for their differences, and empowered to participate and contribute freely.
  • Demonstrated Domain Expertise must have strong knowledge of Data Management, Data Governance, Information Management or Information Governance.
  • Client Interaction and Facilitation. Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with clients both virtually and in-person, when safe to do so.
  • Business Development ability to cultivate and grow members within a data management practice; cross disciplinary influencer.
